Description:
FUREVER HOME NEEDED!
Hi, y’all. Anna, the red head, 6 year old Cocker Spaniel from a Knoxville shelter here asking for your help in finding a forever home. You see, the humans who had me before didn’t much care about me or for me and that’s how I wound up a stray in Tennessee. I came into rescue heartworm positive and with nasty worms in my gut (both of which have been treated), and I’m getting spayed today (8-20-2010) and having small mammary tumors removed. Oh, and the lady who transported me yesterday thinks I have a urine tract infection ‘cuz I keep squatting to pee.
You might not know it, but heartworm is easily treated nowadays, although dogs do need special attention during treatment. Basically, that means we need to be kept calm. Hmmph! Hard do do for me! I am VERY energetic (which is why my pictures are so horrible – I refuse to sit still even for a second! Maybe my new foster family will send some good ones in for this page). I love every human I see – no matter how far away they are, and I’m curious about everything else. But I’ll be fine in a couple of weeks…once heartworm is cured, most pups are good as new – especially if it’s caught early. All this care and attention means I have everything now- everything except a home where someone will love and take care of me, give me a soft warm bed of my own, some toys, LOTS of treats, and the ability to accept all the love and fun I’ve got in my heart.
For more information about Anna or any of our other dogs, email our Adoption Coordinator.
Our adoption process begins with an application. If you are interested in adopting this or any of the other dogs on our website, please take a few moments to fill out the application now. We have a busy website, so one of the dogs you may be interested in now could already have an application pending approval. Don’t be left out in the cold – fill out an application now, and you can be pre-approved for the next “perfect” dog you see available. (Of course, we think ALL of our dogs are perfect, but we understand that adopters may have certain parameters based on their own circumstances, ie, kids, other dogs, cats, work schedule, etc.) The pre-approval process is the same as the adoption process, but with the benefit of being ready to go when your dog comes in. Often a dog won’t even make it to the website if we know we already have someone waiting in the wings who we know would be a perfect match for Fido. How simple is that for finding your new BFF (Best Furry Friend)??!!
The medical and custodial expenses of the numerous Cocker Spaniels in our care are tremendous. With the current economy, more and more dogs with urgent and serious medical issues are being abandoned. While we are committed to providing the best possible care for these luckless, voiceless dogs, the increased costs are beginning to take their toll on our ability to do so. What this means is that we are able to rescue fewer dogs, and in turn that means more dogs may be euthanized every day. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our dogs, please consider making a donation.
We know that money is tight everywhere, but even just a few dollars from many people adds up. Think of those dogs still in shelters or on the streets – those without warm beds, full bellies, and the knowledge that they are safe. For just the cost of a few cups of coffee, you can make a tremendous in the life of one of our needy furballs. For other ways to donate, please scroll to the bottom of our main web page.
The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization and your donations are entirely tax deductible.
