Description:

Wiggles is a STAR!!!! Check out his television debut on Good Morning Maryland!

Update - 3/19/2010. Wiggles has been fully vetted, his eyes look wonderful and guess what - he’s ok with cats - he might give a chase every once in a while, but with some guidance, he now knows that cats are not toys. He’s a smart boy who will thrive with a good pack leader. He will watch over other dogs and lead if necessary, but gladly lets his human lead so he can be a snugglebud. Wiggles won’t be around long - please apply quickly - but know that we have lots of wonderful dogs!

Initial Intake Bio: Wiggles was surrendered when the person who bought them from a breeder to help the dog couldn’t care for them.  He came in with his mate, Rosie.  They had been living 100% outside in the cold with no care.  As you can see from the pictures, he was terribly matted.  And - thankfully for the reader - you cannot scratch and sniff the picture - because he smelled terrible.  Wiggles is a 6 year old male that is getting the care he needs - cleaning up, spaying, vaccinations and any testing he might need.  As you can tell from the pictures, he has a bad case of KCS - or dry eye - and he will be started on some simple eye drops to correct this condition - they are not expensive and you’ll see his eyes clear up after treatment.  We will also see if he needs an eye specialist exam to make sure he has no other eye issues.  We will make sure he does not participate in the making of any more puppies.

Wiggles is a wide open boy - he’s big at 36 pounds and even then he’s too skinny! He will be VERY handsome once he gets dematted and clean.  He’s active and outgoing.  He will need an active owner to help him get good on a leash and learn his manners - but he really has potential to be great fun.   He seems to like everyone - and he does like other dogs, too.  We cannot recommend a home with small children - because his larger size and boisterous attitude could make them like little bowling pins to knock over.  Older kids would be fine and encouraged.  (around 8+)

Wiggles will also need housebreaking skills - but he should start them as part of his stay at the vet’s office.  With some consistency - he should be easy to train.  He also rode well in the car and didn’t make a sound - except to pant some.  He has a great sense of adventure.  And - once he’s cleaned up - he’ll be a dog in demand - because his coat and coloring will be stunning.

If you are interesting in giving Wiggles a loving home, please let us hear from you!

Our adoption process starts with an application. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out this application.

The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization and your donations are entirely tax deductible.
