UPDATE 7-7-10Okay, here it is - straight from Foster Mommy to you. We were going to rewrite it, but we think it’s perfect as it is!
Jeeves is settling in nicely. What a super dog. Someone will be very, very lucky to adopt him. Here’s what I can tell you so far:
Housebroken, crate trained.
Sweet, loving, needy for attention. He will get right in your face, put his nose against yours & stare right in to your eyes. Then he puts his head on your chest. Of course, I just melt & I would like to meet the person who doesn’t.
Likes to have a tennis ball with him at all times. Big toy lover. The first night he pulled all the toys out of the toy box including 9 tennis balls. Real good catcher & fetcher.
Good appetite. Very gentle taking treats. Knows sit but haven’t really had time to test him on anything else. You can take toys & food away from him with no problems.
Can be rowdy at times like a pup but then settles down nicely when told to calm. Sleeps through the night. He would love to sleep in bed but I’m enforcing the crate for overnight due to jealousy on the part of my pack.
His tail is a blur it wags so fast. If you put a rattle on it he could easily pass for a rattlesnake it’s so fast.
Last night at bedtime I told him to go get a ball for bed & he went 2 rooms over, got a tennis ball & went right in his crate. It’s a big wire crate so at least he isn’t stuck in a small airline crate where he was spending 12 or more hrs. a day.
I’d keep him in a heartbeat if we weren’t at our comfort level of 3. I told him we would love & care for him till his forever home came along.
Pics - don’t want to take any until he gets groomed this week.
He’s a dark buff with chocolate in his background because he has the light eyes & lighter than normal nose.
So there you have it folks! Who can resist this glowing recommendation??
7-6-10: Hello everyone, Jeeves the buff Cocker Spaniel here and I’m looking for a new home. I am 8 years old, but everyone tells me I have the energy and playfulness of a 3 year old. Everybody is a new friend for me as I am very outgoing and just crave attention! Even other dogs and cats are new buddies to be made.
I love to play and enjoy walks. I respond to commands that I know, and am eager to please. I am a very trusting boy who desperately wants a family to love and take care of each day.
Please let me come into your life and I will wiggle my way into your heart. I am a good boy who needs a second chance with a family who wants me and will love me. Can it be with you?

The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization and your donations are entirely tax deductible.
