FUREVER HOME NEEDED!

Blondie was seized from a hoarder. Do you know what that is? You may have seen the shows on A&E, or perhaps you’ve seen the people on Oprah. A hoarder is someone who has an obsessive need to collect something. In this case, that “something” was animals. Now we’ve seen some pretty awful sights when it comes to dogs. Neglect, abuse, torture, puppy mills – there are all kinds of ways that humans can treat dogs badly. But hoarders can be the worst. However, to keep this short and focused on Blondie, we’ll just tell her story.

We thank the special person who got to Blondie just in time for us to save her. On intake, this poor pup’s paws were swollen from living in a crate, standing and laying on wire, and having to live in her own urine and excrement. She had no fur on her belly (ammonia from urine can be extremely toxic to a dog’s body), her ears were a horrible mess, and her fur was thin from lack of nutrition. We could also see she has some aches and pains because she had never had any proper freedom of movement, much less exercise. She didn’t even know what it was like to walk on the ground! We took Blondie to the vet immediately, and she was given a complete once over, neutered, updated on her shots, ears and eyes cleaned, and medications dispensed.

Throughout all the pain and suffering she has endured, and worse yet, the lack of loving companionship, somehow she has managed to emerge the sweetest, most loving furball we’ve seen in a long time. (We are always amazed at how often dogs who have suffered so much at the hands of humans can still want so badly that love of which humans are also capable.) Little Blondie is so excited to have a toy of her very own, a warm bed with no wire for feet to fall through, and regular meals. She just loves to put her paws on your lap and accept all of the attention and lovin’s that she surely deserves.

Please consider bringing Blondie into your home. We know you won’t regret bringing this warm, affectionate pup into your lives. Nothing feels so complete as a home with a dog.

Our adoption process begins with an application. If you are interested in adopting this or any of the other dogs on our website, please take a few moments to fill out the application now. We have a busy website, so one of the dogs you may be interested in now could already have an application pending approval. Don’t be left out in the cold – fill out an application now, and you can be pre-approved for the next “perfect” dog you see available. (Of course, we think ALL of our dogs are perfect, but we understand that adopters may have certain parameters based on their own circumstances, ie, kids, other dogs, cats, work schedule, etc.) The pre-approval process is the same as the adoption process, but with the benefit of being ready to go when your dog comes in. Often a dog won’t even make it to the website if we know we already have someone waiting in the wings who we know would be a perfect match for Fido. How simple is that for finding your new BFF (Best Furry Friend)??!!

The medical and custodial expenses of the numerous Cocker Spaniels in our care are tremendous. With the current economy, more and more dogs with urgent and serious medical issues are being abandoned. While we are committed to providing the best possible care for these luckless, voiceless dogs, the increased costs are beginning to take their toll on our ability to do so. What this means is that we are able to rescue fewer dogs, and in turn that means more dogs may be euthanized every day. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our dogs, please consider making a donation.

We know that money is tight everywhere, but even just a few dollars from many people adds up. Think of those dogs still in shelters or on the streets – those without warm beds, full bellies, and the knowledge that they are safe. For just the cost of a few cups of coffee, you can make a tremendous in the life of one of our needy furballs. For other ways to donate, please scroll to the bottom of our main web page.

The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization and your donations are entirely tax deductible.
