Hello everyone, my name is Angel. Everyone who has examined me thinks I am around 8 yrs old. The good people at the shelter where my owners dumped me were very kind to me. They got in touch with CSAC, who pulled me from the shelter even though they knew I had these great big lumps in my lymph nodes. The bad news is that I found out that I have cancer. My vet gives me a couple of months to spend here on earth before I make my journey across the bridge. But please do not feel sad for me because I am very happy! Even though my owners were not good people, CSAC and my foster mom are the best! I am loved, I am cared for and I am a happy dog! I will live my last months on this earth better and happier than all my years before put together! I can't tell you what happened to me in my previous life. I came into my foster home terrified of other dogs. My foster mom and my vet feel something very traumatic happened to me. I've been in my foster home a couple of days now, with 7 other dogs who live here, and they have been very good to me. They know I fear them and they give me my space and I am now mingling around them. They still scare me but I know they won't hurt me. There is, however, an over exuberant young dog here who thinks she needs to play with me, but I don't want to play with her right now, geez these young pups and their "oh just lets play" attitude! I do though, so love people and children! Two little girls came to visit me - in MY yard - and played with me! I loved it and when they were called home by their mom, I ran from one side of the fenced yard to the other watching them go home, wishing they didn't have to. But they have a mom who loves them too and wants them home, just like I have a foster mom who loves me and wants me home and safe. I went to an event with my foster mom and CSAC. It was warm but it was a blast! I got to meet a lot of people, got a lot of treats, went for long walks to meet everyone - even got to see my vet! He was so happy to see that my tumors have shrunk even more! And that exuberant young dog in my foster home? Well, she came to the event with me too. And guess what, she's actually not so bad! We were playing with each other and toys and had a grand time while my foster mom was setting up her area! So many people came up to me saying how adorable I am! Well, of course I am! What a great day I had! I will stay with my foster mom until the time comes for me to leave and I am okay with that. I am okay with knowing I don't have a lot of time here on earth or maybe I will because of all the love and care I am receiving. I have started on a medication that has shrunk my tumors, so while the cancer is still present and untreatable, the size of the tumors is more tolerable. My point here in writing my story is that CSAC had the heart to take me in knowing I am a permanent foster dog, knowing that I likely had advanced cancer. So many dogs are in need of a new home and rescue takes care of them. Of course taking care of so many needy dogs costs money. I am asking not for myself, but for the other dogs who need a chance at a new life - please - won't you consider donating to these dogs? If you wish to donate in my name, just note the "Angel Fund" on your donation check, money order or Paypal transfer. You will make me the happiest girl in the world! My foster mom says my name is perfect for me because I am an Angel in disguise. I will leave this earth at some point in the near future and besides knowing I am loved, that I mean something to someone, knowing that you will think of me, think of CSAC for my fellow cockers would mean so much to me also. I know what it is like to be tossed away like I am a piece of furniture no longer desired, but knowing rescue cares about me, cares about all the dogs they take in, takes away that tossed away, I don't matter feeling. Please remember - even after I am gone from my physical being, that my spiritual being will still live on and watch over my fellow cockers. I will continue to be their Angel. I am hoping you will be their Angel too and assist in their care.

Will you help Keewee be pain-free once more?
|

|
Keewee came into our rescue with terribly infected ears, and even though our vet put her on antibiotics immediately, it's just too late. The ear canal is so swollen, and she is is so much pain, the only remedy left is a total ear canal ablation. With your generous donations she can have the surgery right away. Can you help end her pain?

Adopting a dog means saving a life. A living, sentient being, with real feelings, has been discarded like used tissue. Adopters bring these precious souls home, and give them kind, loving, forever havens, sometimes for the first time in their lives. We are deeply grateful for every CSAC adopter, and adoptive homes are the constant objective for our needy charges.
To enable these wonderful adopters to find their forever friends, we need foster families to help along the way. Fostering saves COUNTLESS lives. Fostering enables CSAC to save many dogs from the streets and the shelters, from puppy mills and troubled former homes. We work VERY HARD not to kennel CSAC dogs. They need real homes where they can recover and grow in peace and confidence, where they can socialize and return to the world healed and ready for their "Happy Ever After." Foster homes are essentially halfway houses for dogs, step down units, often following intensive care of one kind or another, following physical or emotional trauma. Sometimes both. A homeless animal is a suffering animal, regardless of the circumstances that lead him/her there. Fostering also makes room in shelters, so the next dog that comes along finds a reprieve and another day to wag his tail to try to get adopted.
Fostering brings joy and tears, but it is one of the most fulfilling things anyone can do to truly help the dogs. It is also one of the most critical services a volunteer can provide. Become a champion for those who cannot fight for themselves. Become a true life saver! Please apply to join our amazing group of fosters by clicking on the link to the left.
